#44416 RPG-X Version Number Changes

Posted by GSIO01 on 20 February 2014 - 10:34 PM

From now om the meaning of the version number for RPG-X will change. This changes are done to make identification of RPG-X versions easier and also shorter for the main menu.

Each version number for RPG-X will have the following form:

The mayor version is to indicate mayor version changes, the minor version is for changes with less impact. The bugfix version will be incremented with each bugfix. The bugfix version will be reset to zero on an minor or mayor version increase. The minor version will be reset to zero on a mayer version change. Flags are used identify special versions.

The following flags might be used:

  • d for development release
  • u for unstable release
  • a for alpha release
  • b beta release
  • c closed released
  • no flags mean official release

A little example:

RPG-X V 2.3.3cbu

Is RPG-X version 2.3 with 3 bugfixes and is a closed beta unstable release.

I'm very happy to announce that I have taken charge of the STVEF Support in GtkRadiant and that beginning with the release of GtkRadiant 1.6.4 the support will be back in. The release of 1.6.4 is still some time away but don't worry the first development build of GtkRadiant 1.6.4 including the Elite Force support has already been released.

You can download it from here:

Want to give feedback, have ideas for the support, or found a bug Elite Force support related bug? Please let me know.

  1. For UberGames members to livestream their games projects
  2. For UberGames members to show off their mad fragging skillz. XD

Lets see if I still have some mad fragging skillz left ;)  ...

#43873 New Star Trek Game Engine

Posted by GSIO01 on 13 May 2013 - 06:23 PM

John and Veritas sumed it up pretty much. As much as I would love to move to a never engine it's more work than we can handle with our team. Such a port would require a big team not only of programmers but also model artists, texture artists, level designers, and so on. There are some enhancements beeing worked on for ioquake 3 we are keeping track of to see if we can use them with rpgxEF at some point (for example a new and more state of the art renderer).

#42721 idTech 4 now open sourced!

Posted by GSIO01 on 04 January 2012 - 06:14 PM

Hmmm good question. I personall prefere to cherrypick as I like C more than C++ anyway that does'nt mean it's easier.
Anyway I guess it might be easier to pick parts from idTech 4 and implementing them in idTech 3 then redoing the whole RPG-X monster (lol :D) in idTech 4.

When Doom 3 came out, there were a LOT of cool new features in there that I wanted to explore. Things like the ingame GUI system and the built-in effects and map editors. In addition to that, the MegaTexture system of Quake Wars looks amazing.

I think we could have a lot of fun with this... ;D

Totally agreed ... I wanted to have look on it for a long time. Somewhat hard to believe I finally can do so now. :)

#42538 Welcome Harry Young!

Posted by GSIO01 on 27 October 2011 - 05:10 PM

We are very happy to announce our development team for RPG-X has a new member. Hendrik 'Harry Young' Gerritzen joins us as Lead Lua Coder.

I'm sure many have noticed his amazing work with the new Lua implementation (singleplayer support/support of older maps) and the update on the RPG-X Lua Documentation. He also provided some gamecode bugfixes and a few new other adds to the gamecode.

His main focus will be the extension and maintainance of the RPG-X Lua Features (especially the single player support scripts).

Welcome aboard!
