There's been discussions about STO on these boards, but they've been buried in other topics... mingled with other topics.

So I'm curious who will be getting STO?

I just pre-ordered my copy yesterday, and am looking forward to the OB this Tuesday.

I'll give it a go, certainly. It'll be the price of the monthly payment that decides how long I'll give it a go for. :)

Everything I've seen of it is a boring third person shooter with a small amount of RPG elements.

Absolutely excited to try it. Weather it'll stand up and my PC can handle it, I don't know.

Considering the NDA is now actually lifted, I've been in the CB for...what a month...maybe two. Personally I think the game has shown great promise because it has come a long way and things have definetly developed. One of the newest things that they're still working on is the randomised exploration missions which can be quite fun :D.

The only bad thing is that the patcher is hellish, like properly useless because it takes forever to download a patch if there's more than like one person connected to the server XD. You also have to remember that this IS a MMO and because of the nature of Star Trek being very subdued, I think they've managed to create a very trek like game (granted though it does need more exploration and much more non-combat sutff, but it's been getting added slowly :D).

I've just spent the last few hours playing the Open Beta, and I must say I love it so far, despite the bugs I've been encountering. :D

So I was planning on incremented dl of the open beta, since we have a 3 gig in 1 day, 5 gig in 3 day bandwidth restrictions on campus. I went to pause the dl on steam, and it was saying Download Stopping. So I went off to class...came back later to see most of it got dled, and I was put on 56k restriction. This lasts for 5 more days. *SIGH*

I can't wait to try it out. I have heard that it is really good, and that there are exploration elements in place.

(Note: Lee you are starting to sound like epic troll the more I hear your comments XD)

Yeah I'm really curious about this game too.

I want in to the Open Beta, but I don't want to drop piles of money on it for the privilege. XD

My brother was giving me crap for weeks because I wasn't bothering to follow the development of STO and he thought it was so awesome. I told him there was no point because a) it's pay per month, and B) it will be crap. He bought the collector's edition for $100 or something like that. Open beta finallly rolls around; he hasn't admitted that I was right, but my other brother confirmed to me that I definitely wouldn't like it.

Well... I got convinced... so I bought it. XD

So far I'm enjoying it. :) There are a few things that bother me (like the ridiculous size of doors on the ships XD), and they do stray away from established canon quite a bit in some instances (mainly the uniforms, and the ability to basically build a ship out of other class' bits XD) which annoyed me a bit at the start, but overall, it's pretty fun. :)

My account name is -TiM- and my ingame character is 'Kulhane' (of course :P ). If there's a friend search finder, hit me up. :)

For all those that still don't have keys... but although 3000 may seem like a lot, they won't last forever! ;)
