Wheeeeew!

Well, it's been two weeks since I took the forum down.... sorry about that! :(
It turns out that vBulletin 3.7 seriously did revamp a tonne of stuff in the vBulletin styles and layout, so when I applied the UberGames skin to it, a tonne of proverbial doo hit the fan. :$

But, the forum's back up now so hopefully all is well now. I encourage you to check out the new member profile page.... it looks awesome!

Since there's a tonne of new features in this version as well (like albums and friends lists and such) and I can bet none of the admins have tried them yet, it might take a while for everything to be running totally smooth... if so, then please bear with us.

Remember, if you see any bugs, please report them. :)

And now.... finally, I'd like to present something very special. :)

It's taken 4 months of writing code, debugging code, tearing out hair and screaming naughty words in various languages, but it's finally at a releasable stage!

Presenting.... The UberGames Official Web Site!

The main goal of the UberGames site is to present a central point where people can go to read about and download projects that have been created by UberGames. It also features some general information about what this organization is, and will also hopefully go on to start supporting periodic articles. :P

I'd like to extend a very thorough thank you to Dom, Jason and RedTechie for creating the UberNet Pandora PHP engine, the system that handles the entire processing and rendering of the pages of the site. Without it, I can definitely say development would have been much slower going.

In any case, the site definitely isn't 100% finished. From here the real fun begins when we start to discover the myriad of bugs that are no doubt hidden in there... not to mention working on adding new features and more stable support.

If you do see any bugs on the UberGames site, please report it through either the 'Contact Us' link, or in the Tech Support forum here. :D

Even though writing the site got me down a few times, I found it overall a very interesting and enjoyable experience. And I definitely hope you enjoy viewing it just as much!

Thank you guys!

Enjoy!

Thank you very much sir! :P

Well! The site's been online for a week already. Doesn't time fly. :$

It's still a WIP, but I'm currently building a tiny page to let the admins check out statistical information derived from the access logs of the server.

If anyone's interested... the chunks of information I've managed to gather would point out a few interesting things:
1) The site as a whole (ie not page by page) has been accessed nearly 1100 times already (Tho... my hunch is that's Google's fault :) )
2) There have been 276 unique (ie different IP addresses) users to the site.
3) Firefox 3 is the dominant browser, with IE7 coming second (Damn straight!)
4) Windows XP is the dominant operating system as well (still trying to find the next one!)

All in all, I'd say it's been a good first week. :)

You can say that again. :)

I'm a little surprised XP is the dominant OS though - Vista obviously isn't as popular as I had assumed. :X

Vista was very unpopular in many places I used to visit. Frankly, it's useful and shiny, but a lot of people like XP more for some small amounts of compatibility it gives that Vista doesn't.

Okay... I got the OS checking algorithm up and running.

XP is first, followed relatively closely by Vista, then by Linux, then by Mac OS X.

I use XP on my home computer (so I can probably bet a few of those are mine :$) and Vista at work.

I don't really mind either one, so for the time being since it's faster, I'm sticking with XP. :)

I'm not as surprised at XP's dominance over Vista. :$

But I am surprised at Linux's dominance over the Mac OS.

Does FreeBSD fall under the Linux category.

Umm, quite possibly... there's no mention of 'FreeBSD' anywhere in the logs.
