Need help installing EF on Vista

ok so on my vista computer i cant play elite force 1 so i can only play the second one is theree a mod like this for elite force 2 and can you give me a link tgo it? or can someone tell me if there is a way to make elite force 1 to work on this thing. THANK YOU FOR WHOEVER HELPS ME

i know i might be on the wrong section in the forum but i really need help. so elite force wont install on my vista computer. is there a way around this? also is there a mod like this for elite force 2? if there is can someone send me a link? that would be awesome.

There's some sort of thing called user account control on Vista that works wonders. I don't have Vista so I have no clue where to find it or what setting it's supposed to use, but chances are, if you find it and toggle it, EF will probably work.

There's some sort of thing called user account control on Vista that works wonders. I don't have Vista so I have no clue where to find it or what setting it's supposed to use, but chances are, if you find it and toggle it, EF will probably work.


What he said. UAC (User Account Control) has a nasty tendency to break installations by forcing applications to save files to a "virtual store" instead of the actual location it's intended for.

To disable UAC, do the following.

Open up Control Panel, then User Accounts and select your user account. Simply click "Turn User Account Control On or Off." Depending on how the computer is setup, you may need administrative access to do this.

You may also want to, if you have not already done so, download and install Vista service pack one. This fixed a few compatibility issues with older games.

Hi I am using vista 64bit on my computer at first was having problems installing elite force 1 then found a way around this when you put the disc in will come up with an error message just hit ok or x it out go to my computer and open the drive you have elite force in click open should come up with all the files and folders from the disc should see a folder called setup click that and the setup menu should pop up and install elite force on your computer only thing is everytime you want to play or put the disc in computer will come up with error just close it out and click on the shortcut from desktop hope this helps to anyone running vista without shutting off the annoying uac.

so when you do Turn User Account Control On or Off do you uncheck the box

do you see a folder called setup should say something like setup in 32bit click on that and should come up with the installing

If you turned the UAC off, like you said in the topic which Admiral Hocking posted, it is going to install, and you see the install-progress. I also have Vista and never had a Problem tu install EF.
