I heard a rumor of a new Trek series from the folks behind the current movie. Probably no substance to it, but you heard it from me first. :P

Please not a prequel?

The above signature is a testament to the days when roleplaying was actually alive.

If there is a new series, and it's prequel, I will cry. Literally. ;_;

If JJ Abrams works on it, chances are it will be awesome.

However I really hope it doesn't follow the same visual style as the new film.

My idea of Star Trek is that it should be basically about diplomacy and exploration for the most part and then should start to get deeper into conflicts after the whole of the relations is developed. It really should rarely be just some meeting of a random alien race with a hidden agenda that wants to destroy Enterprise.

I just learned that all hope is not lost for the film (though most still is) because Karl Urban.

I heard about this 2 weeks ago or so.

Supposedly the producer or something from a canceled TV series called "Pushing Daisies" wants to start a new Trek series based somehow off of the original series.

Urgh. In the few times I've seen Pushing Daisies, I've wanted to pull my teeth out.

seconded

I didn't know it's canceled so at least that's a relief.

But what the **** more prequels?

Scooter, I don't know what you heard...

But, they already did made a new series... appears to be unsuccessful.

At this point, I doubt they will make another one, or a decent series...

If anybody can make a decent Star Trek series, it would be my uncle. B)

I enjoyed Pushing Daisies, I thought it was an neat show.

I like Bryan Fuller, and I would be totally cool with him doing a new Star Trek series. Though from the sounds of it, it is just something he would like to do, not something that he is actively working on.

He worked on Heroes during its first season, he wrote a few DS9 episodes, and did a bunch of work on Star Trek Voyager.

He is also the creator of Dead Like Me.

Its star trek all over again. If it makes for good entertainment, why not. Its not star-trek as we know it... but that doesn't really matter.
If they wanna do it right, it will be completely unlike anything we know, with a completely new canon.

That's a fan-made series.

I also enjoyed Pushing Daisies, though the whole "can't touch" thing was a bit of a shame. Kind of like Gilligan's Island where they could never get off the Island (until the reunion movie).

What about the roumour that STO will be made into a series... or at least the major things happening in that will change the course of a series that would be happening at that time... if that is the case it would be awesome because that's set post-nemesis... so no prequals there :D

Unfortunately I do not much like how STO has continued the story. At least not the way they presented it. Though you can do a lot with the Klingons becoming the Federation's enemy once more (think of parallelism used back then and now. The Klingons Empire was the ST equivalent of the Soviet Union. Russia, of which most of the USSR consisted, and the other nations have made peace with the west, but lately, these relations seem to crumble a bit. Now do the transfer to ST), I think that the way they did it only serves to give you more folks to shoot at.

I read it on the Internet; I wouldn't really call that evidence.
