On a somewhat related note, I saw this on Stackoverflow today and had a nerdgasm: http://www.biscade.com/office/

Whoa! I wish I had room for all this! If I did I would so do it!

He has the same ProCurve Switch I'm using :) I'm thinking about buying a second.

The amount of monitors in that room makes Acer look like a baby compared to that. Or wait...

Well anyway, think of all the porn that would fit on those screens.

The funny thing is it's not the monitors that impress me all that much... That is the easiest thing to do and its been done before. Granted you need room for 6 monitors... :(

The general setup of the desk and the room and how the wires were strung through the walls was impressive.

Oh wow, that's awesome. Totally what I would do if I had the money to get an attic retrofitted lol.

Blargh... wireless network fail. :@
I'm going to do a quick rant here. :P

So in the meantime, my WRT54GL arrived, and RedTechie helped me set it up with a flashed copy of DD-WRT. Until a few weeks back, it was functioning totally perfectly.

And then, it stopped working for no apparent reason. After a few months of perfect functioning, the bandwidth suddenly dropped down to and haf been hanging at 1mbps... which was so painful to the point that we switched back to the Apple Airport. ;_;

I did some more research today and found out that a lot of people were badmouthing DD-WRT for problems like this, and the fact that QoS apparently doesn't work at all.

A lot of them recommended another one called Tomato, so I decided to try that one out. It looks a lot nicer than DD-WRT (Plus the AJAX UI makes it heaps quicker to configure), but the problem still persisted.

So... I posted this question on Experts-Exchange... and one d00d suggested I simply change the channel.... which I think has solved the problem haha. :$

I'm not claiming epic fail defeat just yet, since I don't trust the problem's actually gone away.

But yeah... either way... if/when I decide to build my own house, I plan to do away with wireless. T_T

Umm... TiM... I told you to try a different channel months back when you were having the problem :P

I see how it is... My word is not good enough...eh ?! :P ^_^

But yeah most the time other devices like 2.4Ghz wireless phones, Microwaves, and other Wireless networks will degrade your signal quality if their on a channel that is close to the same radio frequency that your on thus causing signal noise or interference problems.

Although I'm glad to see you would do away with wireless if you had a choice :D

Sure Tomato is nice looking. but the last i looked at it it didn't have half of the features that DD-WRT sported.

ROFL... uh... you did? :P

Yeah it looks like it lol. I haven't had any problems since I switched... :$

Well, yeah, but all the features I want it has.... Static DHCP, Port Forwarding, QoS etc.
It also has a cool feature where it draws out bandwidth usage on a graph in realtime. :)

I'm wondering if I should put DD-WRT back on it or leave it as is...

It's up to you...

But just for the record  yes I did tell you to try a different channel, and DD-WRT does have a bandwidth graph just like Tomato ;) See screen shot.
