Apprentice, until you get it into that midi-chlorianed head of yours, we're likely gonna repeat it: It was a teaser, not a demo. It had elements of the upcoming mod, in this case, the locations and characters. Nothing else.

A teaser that failed to convey the essense of Freelance and turned it into another '13-in-a-dozen' shooter . . .

A shooter? What, like... Elite Force...?

Yes, and it proved to be exactly a shooter like Elite Force and nothing more. I am still wanting to see if this will actually be as adequate as the author has told so far.

The full Freelance mod has an obligation (due to how it has been advertised and publised by Griffin) to be more than "just a shooter" - and yes, we shall see if it lives up to expectations. However, this particular release accepts of it's own accord that it is just a teaser of some of the content. This is what I'm trying to get across to you.

Now if you are disapointed with that, then its your loss, I think it was a fun and professional looking teaser to play.

Ok, so our voice acting wasn't the best but we didn't have much time or reference to get it done. What I mean by that is we all did our lines individually, during the making of the full modification the acting will be a lot more organised where the voice actors can actually hear the other lines and are able to act in a way that interacts with the other lines being given by the actors.

As previously mentioned this teaser contains only visual & auditory elements of what freelance will provide (locations, people, weapons etc). I've seen and played small sections (not big enough for a public released teaser/demo) which include the non-linear elements being incorporated into the mod and believe me when I say that it should be more than what everyone within the community is expecting.

So the teaser wasn't as you expected it to be, Freelance however will be beyond your expectations and will bring a whole new life to the single player of Elite Force, the likes of such has not yet been seen. Freelance will take a while, that's simply the nature of the mod but as requested by the community Griffin took time away from Freelance to make this teaser with some of the modding elements, not gameplay.

Griffin had no intentions of releasing such a teaser because the nature of the mod doesn't allow for it, the non-linear gameplay which is being created means that as such, the entirety of the mod must be completed and released as one for it to work as you can go anywhere at any time during Freelance, to create a teaser to show this off wouldn't be possible without created a whole micro-mod which instead of the weeks it took for the teaser, would take several months - months which could be spent moving closer to the completion of Freelance.

So, I'm sorry that the teaser didn't meet your expectations or show off what Freelance is about but it would be impossible without taking an obscene amount of work away from the core project which is unacceptable. Also remember Griffin didn't want to release a teaser and had no ideas of what to do for such a thing, the community's request for one forced him to cobble together something in a short amount of time which is why the teaser's acting isn't up to par as well as other faults people have mentioned.

Griffin Endurance says:
also tell them if they think they can do better go for it and ask them "whats the last thing you spent 18 hours a day on and released???"

And another promising former EF modification hit the deck:

Loyal fans of Freelance.

Due to a lack of interest from potential programmers, and limited skills and dedication/time within the development. We have chosen to shut down the Star Trek : Freelance development project. The code is too complex and too big a job for our team, and with so few job applications from coders we are simply not getting anywhere. We appreciate everyone within the Star Trek community that have supported the project, and regret that we were simply unable to succeed in our ambitions. The staffs Non-Disclosure agreement will remain intact, and all Freelance materials will be stored in case the opportunity comes up to resurrect the project. NO FREELANCE MATERIAL WILL BE RELEASED.

I myself have invested a lot of money and 5 years of my time to the design and development of this project. As a result I am deeply saddened by this decision. I will also be at this time, retiring from any development based projects, including any maps or mods for other games. Again I apologise for letting you all down, and wish you all the best of luck for the future.

Griffin Endurance

Too bad, but somehow it was to be expected . . .

That is indeed sad to hear. We've had so many talented people mod in the Star Trek gaming community, where have they all disappeared to? Or is it that they're not receiving enough fan support and are going for greener pastures?
