I was able to run it on a clean install with 128 mb alloted to hunkmegs

Just move unnecessary stuff out of your BaseEF, and make sure you hunkmegs in SP is set to something like 128 (or if you want) 1024

Get your Hunkmegs sorted for crying out loud... I got this working with 0% problems.

Quite honestly, I really don't know what to make of it. It says that it's a teaser but a teaser for what ?? All I saw were random locations puddled up together in another shoot-shoot-run-jump-shoot-press a button-shoot-shoot-run-jump-run-shoot-crouch-shoot (bored yet?) scenario. Apart from some technical issues (didn't have any but I have both zonemegs and hunkmegs set to 512. If that doesn't help or you don't have enough memory, just unzip the PK3 file and it will work), mapping issues (should've used some clip brushes in the NX01 class vessel) and a real thin '13-in-a-dozen' storyline, I really don't see what this teaser is trying to convey or why I should play Freelance when it is released.

It's difficult to make a good teaser and/or demo but putting some random stuff in it isn't the way to do it. That's why the demo for Elite Force 2 failed, since it featured two random maps without any coherent factor other then the 'shoot-shoot-run-shoot' part. Raven Software did a good job in making the demo for Elite Force 1 by putting in the first five or six maps of the game and end it at a certain point so that it makes you want to play the game. If the teaser had a similair structure, then it would've been interesting. Right now, it just fails . . .

As said in the readme of the Freelance teaser, it is not intended to be a full-fledged "feature demo," but more as an introduction to the environment of the mod. As for the EF2 demo, I have no idea since I haven't played it(and I probably won't play it.).

Bother to watch the cinematics, and you might actually be able to comprehend it. The story is a dream... do dreams usually make sense? No.

Griffin put this teaser together in order to not only show off the locations that will feature, but also the style of play and new content that he has spent considerable time creating. It very much rocks and I cannot wait to play the full version.

Right now, it just fails . . .

Utter nonsense. Say that again to the 145 downloaders at Elite Force Files, and the 8.9 average user rating.

In that case, you've failed to introduce me into the Freelance enviroment . . .

As for the EF2 demo, I have no idea since I haven't played it(and I probably won't play it.).

Strange, since it looks like that a lot of elements are 'borrowed' from EF2 . . .

Bother to watch the cinematics, and you might actually be able to comprehend it. The story is a dream... do dreams usually make sense? No.

Once again, the overused scapegoat in the history of television and cinema is being (ab)used again . . .

Utter nonsense. Say that again to the 145 downloaders at Elite Force Files, and the 8.9 average user rating.

Humor. The concept of a personal opinion is apperantly unknown to you . . . :') :')

Oh right the "humor" response. I've heard that used by you before when you don't have a better answer.

Personal opinion? Okay. Fair enough. Brilliant in fact, but I'm pointing out that evidence suggests few are likely to agree with you. As for the dream sequence, in this context, it is an inventive way of showing off the various locations and enemies that will feature in the mod. Would you rather the 'plot' be just random levels with no story? I know I wouldn't.

A computer game mod is not a piece of television or cinema. Completely different form of media, and thus different, (yet not uncommon) conventions have to be used. This is a teaser, very much not a demo. There is a distinction.

Nope, I use it when I'm done talking to children that lack a certain amount of majurity, professionalism, experience and oftenly think that they are the best guys around and everything they do is the best thing ever done by anyone. It's an ego issue once again . . .

The fact that something has been done countless times on film & television doesn't make it 'something new' when being used elswhere, in this case, a computer game but if you think this is the best teaser ever, why not letting it reviewed by some professional gaming crititcs. Should be easy for a Filesnetwork staffmember to come in contact with several of them ??

I'd be happy to read their opinions about the teaser ;)

So if not a dream, then what would you have had in it's place? What plot / story - aside from the "first few maps" of the mod as you suggested - which are not in a releasable state right now.

Apprentice, you seem to forget that this is a TEASER, not a DEMO(nstration)

Of course it isn't going to show many things new, if any at all. That's what a teaser IS!

Crashed while loading the cargo bay for me, both before and after increasing hunkmegs. Looks like I have some more cleaning up to do.

I can't say I'm noticing much in the way of the new features besides the turbolift thing. Either I'm not far along enough, or not observant enough.

The turbolift isn't even a new feature anyway... You press a button and it fades to black to make it look like a seamless transition, but it's nothing like RPG-X's. I can't find any new game features except for the custom graphical content itself.

I personally thought the teaser was good, it challenged me unlike EF1 these days, however it was not what i expected, yes, admittedly this is only a teaser, but the main selling point of freelance has been not only it's new features, but it's non-linear gameplay.

Whats the point of releasing a teaser without that crucial element?

However, the teaser did have it's down points, the voice acting for instance, no offense to the people doing it but especially in the character you play as, the voices were all but emotionless, it was the 'oh no my crews captured' /monotone which is the failing point of so many fan-mods.

The unfortunate thing was that the teaser was, in fact, extremely linear.

This mod does not contain any of the Freelance RPG elements but is more of a tour of some of the locations, weapons and characters.

A review YOU have written, how biased is that ?? Also, what's the point in releasing a teaser if a key element is being left out ??

You all involved may had high hopes for this teaser, sadly it just doesn't sell on all the points you had bargained for . . .

Impartiality is not relevant with that, as it is a description of the content. Besides, that particular quote comes from the author's description section of the review, not my findings section. Its not like I put "OMG THIS ROCKS!!!" to use as part of my argument. Pathetic.

Apprentice, until you get it into that midi-chlorianed head of yours, we're likely gonna repeat it: It was a teaser, not a demo. It had elements of the upcoming mod, in this case, the locations and characters. Nothing else.

Equally, before I get claims made that as I helped with Freelance, I'm too biased, I have to agree with Robertson that the voice work could have been better, and I'm also accountable for that, as I had a crappy mic when I recorded my few lines! Sorry!
