I am just going to buy it and try it for myself.
BUT!!! It does look like they are trying to catch EF2 up with RPG-X.

That may kill off RPGX on EF-1 which I must say is far more advanced. Screw the graphics...Screw EF-2 RPGX.

He's still alive. If you would come more often to the Ravenites boards you would know ;)

I stopped going when people stopped talking about modding EF. I wasn't active enough over there to develop any close friendships to keep me visiting.

Well I've recently tried EF2 again for this EF2 week. Only played it for about an hour and a half, and now I really do remember more things about how it's awful. Some of these should have been mentioned earlier, but as I've not played in like a few months, I'd forgotten about them. These are what make EF2 horrible.

My new number-1 reason is the horrible-awful-terrible AI, which was so badly constructed the enemies fire 90 degrees away from you at least 80% of the time.
There's the terrible plot and storyline filled with the most unintelligible technobabble in any game ever in an attempt to make it sci-fi, making it end up to be more like Duke Nukem's retorts when he kills mutated pigs.
Since when do the Borg shoot? Not since Raven made a good explanation for the separated Borg collective in the Forge. And since when do they attempt to slash you either instead of trying to seize you. Since when do they put all their power into some Nausicaan drone to fight you alone in the battle, where a horde would have been actually fun and more, you know, Borg-like.

I feel bad for Ritualistic...because Activision forced them to rush through the development process. Activision wanted the game out a lot faster than Ritualistic so they were forced to rush through a lot of the things that ended up sucking later. It's unfortunate, but there's not much else you can expect from Activision. :\

Well, there's also the fact that Ritual just plain sucks.

Well, there's also the fact that Ritual just plain sucks.

Their first Sin game was a pretty good game, might be considered as a 'cult classic'/sleeper hit. Elite Force II and later Sin: Episodes sucked bigtime. One because it was indeed rushed, the other because it used a system that was at that time already notorious for its piracy methods. Add those two up and you'll know why Ritual Entertainment deservingly went out of business . . .

Yep, they did. Somewhere late 2006/early 2007, Ritual Entertainment was bought by MumboJumbo (= former Ritual employees) and since then they are making casual games under the Mumbo Jumbo flag, if they haven't seeked other employement like Michael Russell (works not in the gaming industry anymore) and Tom Mustaine (now with id Software) did . . .

The 'RPG' mod for EF2 allows a player to sit down? That NOWHERE constitutes anything CLOSE to the level of RPG-X

I believe it was also developed by the close buddy of a known n00b, the guy might be a lot different than his friend, but what I saw during my Interview with Mossie: isn't quite encouraging
